Observe the theme’s shapes
Before choosing colors, locate ears, legs, tails and markings that distinguish silhouettes. Separate foreground and background, then test a short palette on scrap paper. Repeat a color to connect details in different parts of the picture.
After the activity
Choose two animals and explain one similarity and one difference using what you can observe. Compare animals by their features and movement without assuming they all share a habitat.
Try a small palette
Choose three or four colors and test them together on scrap paper. Repeat a color in separate areas to connect them visually, or leave some spaces white. With markers, place a protective sheet underneath and check whether ink shows through.
