Mark an item complete only when the written action is done. Record dependencies so that waiting for someone or something is not mistaken for forgetting.
Write recognizable actions
“Organize” is hard to mark complete; “file the papers on the desk” has a clear ending. Leave room for unexpected tasks and review unfinished items before copying them into the next day. Remove tasks that are no longer needed.
