Observe the theme’s shapes
Before choosing colors, locate scarf patterns, decorative snowflakes and clothing outlines. Separate foreground and background, then test a short palette on scrap paper. Repeat a color to connect details in different parts of the picture.
After the activity
Separate weather features from clothing and describe which occur in winter where you live. Combine winter vocabulary and scenes without assuming every place has snow.
Try a small palette
Choose three or four colors and test them together on scrap paper. Repeat a color in separate areas to connect them visually, or leave some spaces white. With markers, place a protective sheet underneath and check whether ink shows through.
