Observe the theme’s shapes
Before choosing colors, locate wheels, wings, windows and hull lines. Separate foreground and background, then test a short palette on scrap paper. Repeat a color to connect details in different parts of the picture.
After the activity
Sort examples by land, water or air and explain which feature helped you decide. Connect vehicles with the places they travel and observe their main parts.
Try a small palette
Choose three or four colors and test them together on scrap paper. Repeat a color in separate areas to connect them visually, or leave some spaces white. With markers, place a protective sheet underneath and check whether ink shows through.
