Observe the theme’s shapes
Before choosing colors, locate leaf edges, veins and differently shaped fruits. Separate foreground and background, then test a short palette on scrap paper. Repeat a color to connect details in different parts of the picture.
After the activity
Compare the drawn leaves with your surroundings and identify similarities and differences. Observe autumn motifs such as leaves and fruits while remembering that seasonal changes depend on location.
Try a small palette
Choose three or four colors and test them together on scrap paper. Repeat a color in separate areas to connect them visually, or leave some spaces white. With markers, place a protective sheet underneath and check whether ink shows through.
