Observe the theme’s shapes

Before choosing colors, locate backpacks, open books and desk objects. Separate foreground and background, then test a short palette on scrap paper. Repeat a color to connect details in different parts of the picture.

After the activity

Choose an object and explain its use, then write or draw where you would keep it so you can find it. Prepare a back-to-school activity with recognizable objects, routines and spaces without requiring everyone to know one another yet.

Try a small palette

Choose three or four colors and test them together on scrap paper. Repeat a color in separate areas to connect them visually, or leave some spaces white. With markers, place a protective sheet underneath and check whether ink shows through.
